About Me

My name is  Emma Rouger, I am 19 years old. I am an International Student Athlete at Illinois State University, I am double majoring in Computer Science and Mathematiques. I am also part of the Women’s Golf Team there.

When Did I start playing Golf?

I started playing golf at the age of 7-8. My parents were playing and they introduced us, my sister and I, when we were searching for a new sport to play. I’ve never stopped playing since then.

Why Computer Science and Math

I think those two fields are complementary, I have always loved math throughout my entire education and I love everything related to computers. My cousins also work in that field and they showed me what they were doing, since the first time I saw what programming was I knew I wanted to learn more about it. So when I got the chance to do both I took it.

what do you prefer the most about playing?

Competition! I love the feel that competing brings me, there’s nothing comparable, it’s when I can get the most creative and be at my best.

What field in Computer science would you work on?

Everything! But I do have a preference with artificial intelligence and cyber security.

What are your 3 main values?

Hard work                                                Respect                                                                Resilience

How can you describe yourself?

I’m hard working, I never step back in front of a challenge. People sometimes says that I can be stubborn in front of a problem because I don’t like giving up. I know how to listen if anyone have to say anything and I love to learn from other.
